Audi India to launch the new Q7 tomorrow

Audi will launch the new Q7 for the Indian market tomorrow at an event in Delhi. This is the carmaker's flagship SUV in its latest avatar and comes equipped with the latest equipment and features.

The 2015 Q7 sheds the rounded body panels and this time gets a more angular design. This iteration has shed 325kg in comparison to the present one and the carmaker claims that its fuel efficiency has also improved. The fascia of the SUV now features a hexagonal single frame chrome grille, newly designed headlamps with three options on offer - xenons, LEDs or matrix LED lamps. There are tweaks at the back with restyled LED tail-lamps and modified bumpers.

In terms of dimensions, the new model is 37mm shorter and 15mm narrower than the previous car. Despite the shorter overall length, the carmaker has managed to increase the space between the first and second row of seats by 21mm. And even with the third row of seats in place, the cabin boasts of a 295 litre boot. With the third row seats tumbled down, this boot space increases to 890 litres.

Audi has also made some changes to the Q7's interior that will offer a high quality interior similar to what the current Q7 has to offer. The vehicle's cabin gives a more upmarket feel with the use of high quality materials. The feature list for the Q7 includes internet, rear seat entertainment with 3D surround sound and a new touch controlled MMI infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the mechanical front, the Audi Q7 for the Indian market will be powered by the 3.0-litre V6 TDI unit that belts out 272bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. Transmission options include an eight-speed automatic transmission with power sent to all four wheels via Audi Quattro AWD technology.

Initially, Audi will launch the Q7 as a CBU (completely built up) unit that will be imported from the carmaker's Slovakia plant. Later, the new Q7 will be assembled at the company's Aurangabad facility just like the outgoing model.
