Audi India, the third largest luxury car maker in the Indian market, is aggressively expanding its distribution network and workforce in the country. Aiming to become the top car maker in the country by year 2015, the company plans to hire as many as 600 new employees in its India operations.

In a statement given to reporters in Mumbai, Audi India Head Michael Perschke said, "Having recorded 95 per cent growth during the January-August period here, India is well ahead of other growth markets for us globally and we are confident that we are on track with our vision of being the No. 1 luxury car maker in India by 2015."

Audi is currently the fastest growing luxury car brand. The company’s sales surged over 100 percent in the month of August 2011 to 510 units as compared to 250 units sold in the same month last year. In the first eight months of this calendar year, the company sold a total of 3,655 units, as compared to 1,876 units sold in the same period last year. The firm is now aiming to sell more than 5,000 units of its cars in the Indian market during current year.

While further elaborating the company’s future plans in the country, Mr. Perschke said, "We will be hiring at least 600 more people and raising our dealerships to 25 by the end of 2012. We will also enhance our portfolio with the launch of the Q3 (model) next year."
