The German luxury car maker Audi is aiming to sell 1500 cars in India this fiscal. It expects a 55 percent growth in the Indian market looking at the healthy sales figures in the country. The luxury car sales figures have dropped drastically around the globe but the Indian market sentiments have remained a little buoyant, stated Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers.

Audi aims to sell 80 cars from the Kerala market itself till December 2009 out of which 29 have already been sold. Kerala is quite a promising market for the luxury cars and Audi has opened its first terminal showroom in Kochi looking at the market here. Such terminals enable high visibility of the brand through exclusive showrooms. Such terminals are already present in Tokyo, Geneva Sydney and Munich. Audi has nine dealerships in India and three more will be added this year at Ludhiana, Chennai and Delhi.

Audi will manufacture 1000 cars from its Aurangabad plant where it had invested 30 million Euros last year. Its production capacity can be increased up to 3000 cars, if needed.
