A trio of vehicles under the Audi A5 badge will be launched in the Indian market tomorrow. These three cars are the A5 sportback, A5 Cabriolet and the S5 Sportback. The standard range is being offered with diesel power while the sportier S5 gets a V6 petrol engine. We have got behind the wheel of the new A5 and you can find our first drive review here or by clicking on the reviews tab of our mobile app.

Audi A5 range to be launched in India tomorrow

      Audi A5
It’s a sporty version of the A4 sedan and is being offered with the same 2.0-litre diesel as the A4 sedan. This engine produces 188bhp/400Nm and is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Its party piece is, of course, the Sportback roof which helps it stand out among the other sedans in the segment. The cabin is standard Audi fare and you get most of the bits and pieces from the A4 as a part of the features list. It competes with the BMW 320d GT.

      Audi A5 Cabriolet
The A5 cabriolet is the same as the Sportback sedan in terms of the feature list and diesel engine under the hood. The special feature it offers is a two-door design and open top experience. This is the second budget cabriolet that Audi is bringing to India and by the look of things, it aims to fill a niche that very few manufacturers have a presence in. It competes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300 cabriolet.

      Audi S5 Sportback
This is the sportiest of the three and is the only one that is offered with a petrol engine. The mill in this case is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol that produces 354bhp/500Nm. It gets a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and Audi’s signature quattro AWD technology as part of the whole driving package. This car too has sportback lines and thus, is a standout among other vehicles of a similar nature in this segment. The S5’s main rival is the Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG as well the Volvo S60 Polestar.
