Audi India has announced that the much-awaited A3 Cabriolet will go on sale in the country on December 11, 2014. The company will also launch the hatchback version of the A3 in India next year. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the A3 Cabriolet received a positive response from visitors. It will come as completely built-up unit, and is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 35-45 lakh.
The A3 Cabriolet is a 4-seater convertible that features a conventional soft top that opens and closes in less than 18 seconds. The soft top can works at speeds up to 50kmph. Under the bonnet is the 1.8-litre turbocharged, 4-pot petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 180PS and a peak torque of 350Nm. It is also expected that the diesel avatar of the A3 Cabriolet could also make its way to Indian market. The oil burner could be the 2.0-litre TDI unit producing 150PS of top power. It measures 4.42 meter in length, 1.79 meter in width and 1.41 meter in height, and it has a large wheelbase of 2.60 meter.
Featuring the single frame radiator grille at the front, the A3 Cabriolet has flat headlamps that use halogen or xenon bulbs. Inside, the convertible will share components with the A3 sedan. On safety front, the vehicle would get ABS, EBD, Electronic stability programme, traction control, airbags, etc.
