Aston Martin, the British luxury car maker, launched the world class 4-door Rapide sports car at the residence of the British Ambassador to India, located in New Delhi. The automotive giant decided to debut the model in India after it sold 25 units in the nation in 2011. This new car adds to the continually growing number of high end cars being introduced in the country by international auto manufacturers.
The new 4-door Rapide was launched in the presence of Rt. Hon. Dr. Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills. This model had earlier been shown in India in the national capital, before its official unveiling at the 'Great British Garden Party'.
At the launch event, Mark Kenworthy, General Manager, Aston Martin Middle East and North Africa (AMMENA) region, said, "It was indeed a great honour for Aston Martin to showcase the Rapide 4 door 4 seat sports car to such a discerning and knowledgeable audience. India provides an excellent market sector for the Aston Martin brand. Its core ethos of luxury, hand craftsmanship, state-of-the-art manufacture and practicality have really appealed to the Asian sub-continent. Since the brands launch in India in 2011, we have received exceptional and positive feedback from buyers in the Indian market and we look forward to further extending and solidifying our relationship with India when we launch in New Delhi."
Aston Martin sells cars priced Rs. 1.5 to 2.7 crores in India since 2011 and takes the country as a major market. The first dealership of Aston Martin was based in Mumbai under the aegis of Managing Director of Infinity Cars, Lalit Choudary. It has enjoyed healthy growth rate since its debut in India and is working on increasing its presence in the country. It is gearing up to start a new dealership in New Delhi in collaboration with a well known city-based car dealer.
