In 2017, Aston Martin is all set to hit the floor with a Vanquish shooting brake and a speedster built by none other than Zagato.
Aston Martin had announced that it will build 325 cars with the legendary coach-builder Zagato and has already revealed the coupe and the Volante (read drop-top). We now know that 99 examples of each of these two will be built and two new models are supposed to join the Zagato line-up.
First up is the shooting brake. In simpler terms, it is an Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato station wagon. Yes. A two-seater station wagon. The last time a wagon adorned the Aston badge was a one-off Lagonda almost three decades ago. The Vanquish Zagato shooting brake hasn’t been completely revealed but knowing Zagato, the exotic Z-lines of the sloping roof blending into the gorgeous tail section should be a designer’s wet dream. And 99 units of these, which are yet to be made, have already been sold out along with the other 198 coupes and Volantes.
The remaining 28 will be Speedsters (convertible) and unlike the Volante get Formula style fins for both the passengers. Since only 28 will ever be built, the Speedsters will be one of the rarest Aston Martins. And guess what? All of them have been sold too. All these Zagato Vanquishes will be powered by the old-school 6.0-litre V12 petrol engines with the signature Aston roar and rear wheel drive.
