A few days ago, Aston Martin spilled the beans about their upcoming mid-mounted V6 sports car, and while at it, the brand also talked about the electrification of their entire line-up in the future.
Alongside their V6-powered sports car, that’s currently under development (due 2020), Aston Martin is reportedly working towards introducing a range of fully electric vehicles and hybrids in the mid-2020s. Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin said, "We will be 100 percent hybrid by the middle of the 2020s.”
Palmer also disclosed that the battery and hybrid technology development will need to be kept within the company. This is in keeping with their current strategy of building their own V12 engines, instead of sourcing it. Aston Martin believes that since EVs are core technology, they’d want to do it themselves.
Aston Martin has already disclosed its intent to debut their first fully electric car, the RapidE sedan, in 2019, and it will then be followed by the DBX crossover shortly after that.
