Ashok Leyland, one of the country's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced that the company has developed a cutting edge fuel efficient engine technology, especially developed for its Indian product portfolio in New Delhi on November 21, 2012. The Hinduja Group's flagship automobile manufacturing firm affirmed that the new technology laden engine assemblies will be used in its range of trucks that carry retail values between Rs. 15.1 lacs and Rs. 18.83 lacs in the country.
Expressing his opinion regarding latest development from the company's stable, Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director (MD), Ashok Leyland, in a statement said, “It is our constant endeavour to seek ways to improve our customers' profitability and what better way than to reduce their burden on fuel cost. We are confident that our customers will find in this new technology an excellent value proposition.”
Further, Ashok Leyland launched a brand-new range of haulage trucks that have been incorporated with advanced twin speed rear axles. The commercial vehicle maker affirmed that its new haulage truck range has been designed with state-of-the-art modifications, which entail them to deliver over 10 per cent superior fuel economies, as compared to their traditional counterparts. Ashok Leyland has also claimed that the modern and sophisticated technology equipped engine configuration rolls out best results when the vehicles are being driven on open expressways, since cruising and free way conditions enable the drivers to change to fuel economy mode.
Regarding the availability of the advanced power-mill technology in its product portfolio, in a statement Ashok Leyland said, “The twin speed technology will be on offer on some of the company's flagship models in the multi-axle range like the 2516IL, 2516XL, 3116IL and 3118IL, which are best suited for applications like market load, cement, tankers and general cargo and are already top performers in their class.”
Reports suggest that the new fuel efficient engine technology developed by Ashok Leyland might also be available in its other commercial vehicles like 4x2 haulage trucks and buses as well. The advanced mechanisation will be fitted under the hoods of 25 and 31 tonne Ashok Leyland trucks, comprising both 6x2 and 8x2 drivetrain configurations.
