Udaipur’s Arvind Singh Mewar, present guardian of the House of Mewar, has appeared in the limelight as the first Indian in the history to emerge as a victor in the recent 62nd edition annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a recently-organised five day event held in California, USA. Arvind Singh owns a 1924 model Rolls Royce 20 HP, Barker Tourer (GLK 21), which was chosen by the panel of Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance to take part in the event. Luckily on August 19, 2012, the heritage model won the Lucius Beebe Trophy.

The House of Mewar presented a 194-page coffee table book on the occasion, based on the cultural heritage and renovation of their much-loved royal car. Titled as ‘The Royal Udaipur RR GLK 21 Classic drive from Derby to Udaipur to Pebble Beach and…Continues’, the book was also dedicated to the attachment of royal family members over seven generations with their iconic Rolls Royce.

Besides, the House of Mewar has emboldened several car rallies by being an active supporter. Participation of the royal family in Pebble Beach event is yet another attempt from the House of Mewar’s vow in order to showcase their heritage, endorsing its significance.

Expressing his views on the event in California, Arvind Singh Mewar quoted, “India was the ultimate destination for many of Rolls-Royce’s early cars because the Indian Maharanas and Maharajas were only too happy to make the transition from horse-drawn carriages to a car. Back in the old days, this venerable marquee found pride of place for state visits, ceremonies and festivals. By participating in this event, we want to showcase our legacy and our heritage - because today ‘Living Heritage’ has more currency than luxury, whose definition is so dynamic.”
