Apple Inc. is well known for delivering technological advanced gadgets that has made it the world’s most valuable company. The firm’s dominance in the gadget world in unquestionable and now it hopes to move a step ahead by making a foray into the automobile world by launching the CarPlay entertainment system. Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, spoke about CarPlay during the presentation of Apple Watch and the new upgraded Macbook at an event held in San Francisco. As many as 40 models are expected to come with CarPlay entertainment during the course of 2015.
CarPlay is a highly sophisticated entertainment system that enables users to operate their iPhones while driving with relative ease. Users can take calls, send/receive messages and listen to music on-the-go. This system is touch-enabled and works with the regular control system in cars. Among other features available in this system are Maps and third party applications like Spotify, Radio, Umano and Beats Music. This system is compatible with iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6 and 6 Plus. One of the biggest advantages of this system is that users can access the Siri application in the car as well.
Speaking about it during the event, Cook said, “Now every major car brand has committed to delivering CarPlay.” Automakers that are likely to sell models with the CarPlay entertainment system include Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen, Renault and Skoda among others.
