Yet another incident of Tata Nano nearly catching fire occurred in Ahmadabad making it the seventh of such kind incident in the country. A Tata Nano almost caught fire due to faulty cabling at the back of the car near the engine. The car was purchased by Rakesh Shah in Ahmedabad on April 21 this year. "Despite apprehensions, I trusted the product owing to the goodwill of the company. Now that I have been saved, how can I trust this car? Thankfully, my family wasn’t travelling with me," said Shah. He has been left completely shell-shocked with the incident of discovering smoke coming from the car followed by a peculiar hum.

The company spokesperson commented that the matter was being investigated. The technicians could start the car after the incident was reported. It was driven to the dealership without any problem establishing that there was no major fault with the safety of the car.  Preliminary checks have revealed that there was no fire and only smoke.

The company spokesperson added, "As for the earlier incidents, we have already said a 20-member internal team and an independent forensic expert undertook a comprehensive investigation related to the cause of fire and the conclusion of the investigation is that the Tata Nano is a safe car."
