Sponsors Automobili Lamborghini and luxury Swiss watchmaker Blancpain would be contesting against each other during the Super Trofeo 2013 Season II to be hosted in Korea. In this season, Amer Beg would be the first Indian driver ever to make his national debut at the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia. Interestingly, this event also coincides with the 50 year celebrations of Italian mega brand Lamborghini.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo 2013 would be in the limelight during this event. It has better aerodynamics in comparison to the 2012 model, which in turn results in enhanced balance and performance. This would give the vehicle a chance to clock faster time this year.

In the new season of the Super Trofeo 2013, new tracks with new teams would be witnessed, along with different super sports car manufacturers. In the 2nd season, there is a change in the driver lineup, of which Amer Beg is also a part. This is what he wrote on Twitter after knowing about his selection on 21st May, “Amer Beg ?@AmerBeg 21 May, Here’s the BIG news : I will be driving in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series this year ! The Worlds Fastest One-Make series !” In 2012, there were two teams from China in the Super Trofeo final, namely an amateur one and a Pro-Am one.

The first Super Trofeo race was initiated in Europe during 2009. It is being held for the fifth year in 2013 and with this, Asia gets the second chance to host the same. Korea would host this series for the first time ever.

Speaking on being associated with the event, Blancpain Vice President Alain Delamuraz said, “We are proud to be back here in Shanghai for the opening round of the second season of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia. In 2013, our partnership is growing with the launch of the Super Trofeo in the US and our presence at the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary celebrations.” Adding to this, Lamborghini President and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann commented, “The second Super Trofeo series in Asia comes alongside the 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini, celebrating 100 years of innovation in half the time, bringing further measures of Italian passion and excitement to this extreme racing series.”
