Renaults resurrected sub-brand Alpine is coming up with a new mid-engine sports car. The car has now been teased with a radical aerodynamic prowess with flat floor and a rear diffuser.

The flat floor is usually seen in supercar and motorsport world and it will help the car with more downforce without drag and a stable airflow underneath the car.  Thus the car need not have a rear spoiler. The profile of the car, sans the rear wing, can boast a sleeker and smooth flowing design. This uncluttered profile pays tribute to the original A110, which the new car takes its inspiration from.

The final production car will stay true to the Alpine Vision Concept showcased earlier last year. The two-door coupe will have tail lights straight out of the concept car, a curved rear windshield as was seen in the A110, and circular fog lamps and headlights inching ahead on the nose all scrounged from the A110.

Renault-owned carmaker also showcased the aluminium chassis along with aluminium bodywork of this upcoming car. The extensive use of aluminium in the bespoke chassis and most of its bodywork is to keep the weight in check. The new aluminium chassis was shown at the historic facility of Dieppe, where all the legendary Alpine sports cars were constructed indicating that the new car will also be built there.

It will have a rear-wheel drive, mid-engine drivetrain. The engine will be sourced from Renault and hence the 250-300bhp power output from the 1.6-litre from the Clio RS is on the cards. The only official detail revealed by the manufacturer is that the car will do a 0-100kmph sprint in 4.5seconds. The car has been spotted doing test rounds already.

The Alpine A120 is expected to be priced between € 55,000 (approx. Rs 39.39 lakh) and € 60,000 (approx. Rs 42.97 lakh) as it will lock horns with Alfa Romeo 4C And Porsche 718 Cayman when it arrives this year. The first 1955 units will be sold as Première Edition. The car is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor show.
