Renault-owned Alpine sub-brand has revealed its all-new sportscar called the A110. The two-seater coupe is a spiritual successor to the original Alpine A110 Berlinette sold between 1961 and 1977. The car will make its official debut at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Alpine revealed the all-new A110 sports car

The A110 is a mid-engined sportscar and remains true to the Alpine Vision Concept showcased last year. The coupe has got the tail lights straight out of the concept car and so is the fastback roofline. The A110 have a curved rear windshield as seen on the A110 and the other celebrated cars of its time. At the front, the circular fog lamps inching ahead on the nose and the headlamp design are also scrounged from the A110. You could see the retro hints all around the car, the centre-bonnet crease for example. As the French manufacturer asserts that the A110 is “reflecting the timeless principles of compact size, light weight and agility that made the success of the Berlinette”.

The A110 was teased a few days back, flaunting a flat underbelly and more aerodynamics. The extensive use of aluminium in the chassis along with the body work is in a bid to keep weight low and make the car more agile. The new aluminium chassis was shown at the historic facility of Dieppe, where all the legendary Alpine sports cars were constructed indicating that the new car will also be built there.

No details of the powertrain have been revealed but the A110 will be powered by a Renault-sourced drivetrain. The only official detail revealed by the manufacturer is that the car will do a 0-100kmph sprint in 4.5seconds. Ahead of its launch, Alpine has started bookings of its limited-edition Première Edition already which is exclusive to 1955 units. When it’ll go on sale, the A110 will lock horns with Alfa Romeo 4C And Porsche Cayman.
