What you see in the pictures are exclusive spy shots of Porsche’s next generation 911 being tested.
Details on Porsche’s eighth generation 911 have not been disclosed yet, but sources suggest that the car will retain the basic character that makes the 911 unique. So expect features like a naturally aspirated engine, and a manual gearbox to show up somewhere on the range.
The next 911 is also anticipated to be riding on the brand’s new modular platform which will accommodate a wider range of engines. Porsche's chairman, Oliver Blume, recently said that the next 911 may also be on the receiving end of a hybrid powertrain. It has already been reported that the Mission E (a pure-electric vehicle) is in the works and is due to be launched in 2020.
Porsche last updated the current 911 in 2015 where a new series of engines made it to the line-up. But if you look closer, the car was originally launched way back in 2011 and a replacement is long overdue. From the looks of it, we can expect Porsche to debut the new 911 in the first half of 2018.
