Adrian Sutil set fastest time in practice for Italian Grand Prix at Monza. He continues India’s excellent form at Formula 1 racing started by Fisichella who finished second at the Belgian Grand Prix. Fisichella later left Force India team to join Ferrari. Two Renaults finished second and third at the practice where an inexperienced Romanian fantastically beat two-time world champion team mate Fernando Alonso.

“I just had a good day," said Sutil. "The car has been increasingly competitive over the past few races, especially in Spa. At the moment – P3 in the morning, and now P1 – it gives me a very good feeling and I’m absolutely confident that the car will be able to achieve a very good qualifying position.” Sutil first took his VJM02 car round in 1m 24.471s to post the third fastest time in the morning session and then returned to top the chart with an impressive 1:23.924.

Renault at the same time is fighting allegations made by Nelson Piquet of race fixing when he was asked to deliberately crash the car to let his team mate Alonso win the Singapore Grand Prix 2008. Renault is suing Piquet Jr. for defamation.
