These days, no one can stop talking about the Aam Aadmi Party and its leader Arvind Kejriwal. After defying odds in elections, this party has finally settled into the scheme of things and is going about its work. A lot of hype is being associated with every little development that is happening with context to AAP and Kejriwal's exploits. According to a recent report, all ministers of this party, barring Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, were provided with their officials cars. Ministers of Delhi, from AAP, were given the Toyota Innova Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), which is counted among the best in the market. Many of these ministers, including the likes of Saurabh Bharadwaj, Manish Sisodia and Rakhi Birla, arrived in their official cars to the Delhi Assembly complex.

Aam Aadmi Party has been on an agenda to reduce any sort of austerity that exists in the system. Thereby, a few questions were raised by the press and asked Kejriwal the same. Replying quite clearly, Arvind Kejriwal said AAP had never refused to use official cars. "We never said anything about not using cars. We said we will not use red beacon cars," he said. Reports suggest that official cars were accepted by ministers only a day after this party was able to win a trust vote in assembly. Many MLAs and ministers from the Aam Aadmi Party travelled to the Delhi Assembly making use of public transport, keeping their agenda quite visible. Manish Sisodia, a prominent member of this party, said there was no harm in taking official cars. Sisodia, however, clearly said that the party was strictly against VIP treatment given to ministers. "We are opposed to the VIP culture of ministers and bureaucrats using red and blue beacons on their cars and not against using government cars. We are against taking big bungalows," he said.

Many experts feel that using Toyota Innova as an official car might not be the best idea for ministers of the Aam Aadmi Party. In the first place, it is an MPV that is a little costly, which, in the eyes of many, would come under extra expenditure by the government. Secondly, some believe that one minister travelling in a vehicle as large Innova does not make sense, considering traffic conditions in India.
