Tata Motors owned luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) are planning to introduce a new entry level model in the international market. The company will start manufacturing the model in China under the leadership of Carl-Peter Forster, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer for Tata Motors in China. The model will be primarily sold in the emerging markets along with new models like a new roadster and a station wagon.

Jaguar Land Rover was bought by Tata in 2008 from Ford. During the last two quarters, sales of Jaguar and Land Rover cars across the globe have increased considerably which has enabled the company to bring the books to profit. An entry level model from JLR stable comes as a strategic move to generate volume sales in the international market especially in markets like China which has quite a strong infrastructural capacity to handle long, fast moving cars.

Tata Motors is also planning to launch hybrid vehicles under the Land Rover brand. The company report mentions that it has confirmed the production plan of its LRX concept car. This will join the Range Rover line up in 2011-12 and will be the smallest, lightest, most efficient Range Rover ever.
