Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, one of the country's leading auto makers, has challenged the dominance of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire with its Verito Vibe model in the entry level sedan segment of the Indian auto market. The company is calling its Verito Vibe a 'Sporty Compact Sedan With A Large Boot' on the official website. Apart from Swift DZire, the models pitted in direct competition against the newly launched Mahindra Verito Vibe are Honda Amaze and Hyundai i20.
Under its hood, the Mahindra Verito Vibe comes fitted with a 1.5 litre dCi power-mill that develops a peak power output of 64 bhp. The same engine also powers the Verito sedan and delivers an impressive mileage figure of of 20.8 kmpl. The compact sedan is available within a price bracket of Rs. 5.63 lakh to Rs. 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). A class leading interior cabin space is the strongest suit of Verito Vibe sedan, which has faced criticism from automobile experts for its boxy looks and dated design.
Unlike Verito Vibe, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai i20 models are available in both petrol and diesel guises in the Indian auto market. Looks wise i20 is the most stunning of all, while performance wise Amaze wins. However, Swift DZire is the undisputed champion of the segment and Maruti Suzuki sells around 17,000 units of its entry level sedan per month in the country.
The Honda Amaze range is available within a price band of Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 7.6 lakh, while Swift DZire range comes within a price bracket of Rs. 5 to 7.6 lakh. The Hyundai i20 is a premium hatchback, but still competes against Swift DZire, Amaze and Verito Vibe in terms of price points. The Hyundai model range starts from Rs. 4.9 lakh and goes on till Rs. 7.9 lakh in the country.
