Maruti Suzuki India has recently launched the Ciaz sedan, which has received an overwhelming response from car buyers across the nation. In October, 2014, the company delivered 6,345 units of the Ciaz to buyers, which is an excellent number considering the growing competition in the mid-sized sedan segment.

Maruti Suzuki India says that it has garn over 17,000 pre-orders for the Ciaz since its launch, which is pretty impressive numbers. The reason behind the strong sales for the Ciaz is the strong branding for the vehicle. More importantly, the sedan is claimed to be the country’s most fuel efficient car. While the diesel version delivers 26.2kmpl of fuel economy, the gasoline model returns 20.7kmpl of mileage.

The Ciaz also carries an aggressive price tag, with petrol & diesel models prices start at Rs. 6.99 lakh and Rs. 8.04 lakh, respectively. It is one of the most spacious sedans in its league. The car measures 4490mm in length, 1730mm in width and 1485mm in height, and it has a large wheelbase of 2,650mm. The good ground clearance of 170mm makes driving easier on rugged Indian roads.

The gasoline version is propelled by a 1.4-litre K Series engine producing 92PS and 130Nm of top torque. Its oil burner is the tried & trusted 1.3-litre Fiat’s Multi-Jet engine that produces 90PS and 200Nm of torque. Both motors are coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the top-end petrol variant gets 4-speed automatic transmission as well.
