The all-new 2015 Audi S3 and A3 sedans have defined the standard for safety by earning a straight 5-Star rating overall from the New Car Administration program of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States of America. Incidentally, the Audi A3 sedan, which has been provided with the Audi pre sense front, had also won the Top Safety Pick+ rating of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Thus, it becomes the only European compact premium segment model tested for the NHTSA as well as the IIHS rating on the tandem.
This designation is limited only to those models, which provide the maximum amount of crash protection and roll-over safety as what is required by the Federal Law. According to this program, the car models undergo a series of rigorous pole intrusion, side barrier, and frontal as well as roll-over tests to measure their ability to withstand crashes to determine the rating.
Filip Brabec, the Director of Product Planning at Audi of America said, “The Audi A3 and S3 exemplify the best in a long line of Audi vehicles designed to be premium, sporty and above all safe. Both vehicles establish a high safety standard with new and innovative features designed to help protect vehicle occupants as well as others on the road.”
The two sedan models offer a plethora of advanced technology features, which are new to the luxury segment. The standard Audi pre sense is one of the many that helps to detect the requirement of an emergency manoeuvre and thus, effectively prepares the vehicle for such a crash. The A3, incidentally, is the only model, which offers a secondary collision brake assist as a general feature. All these features and a couple of others have established the high-efficiency of the new sedan models from Audi.
