Gautam Singhania led the entourage of 80-super cars
Thousands present at the super car parade route and display venue early Sunday morning
The Super Car Club (SCC), in collaboration with the Autocar India, organized the Parx Super Car Show 2012. On January 22, 2012, thousands thronged to the Riding School, Mahalakshmi Race Course to see the 100-odd super cars on display. The attractive cars took off and paraded through the streets of Mumbai, en route Bandra Worli Sea Link and Western Express Highway until Kalina. From Kalina, the auto beauties returned to the venue and were greeted by a huge round of applause by the eagerly waiting spectators of the show.
Mr. Gautam Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director of Raymond Ltd. and Founding Chairman of the SCC, led the super cars convoy. At the end of the super car show, he gave away prizes to the most desirable cars, which were the Jaguar XVRJ, the Aston V8 and the Bentley Super Sports.
The Parx Super Car Show was conceptualized and organized by Mr. Gautam Singhania about three years ago, in April 2009. The first-of-its-kind show was organized to provide auto aficionados and general public the opportunity to see some of the best super cars in India. Some of the most popular super cars in India are Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ariel Atom, Bentleys, Rolls Royces, BMWs and Mercedes, to mention a few.
Mr. Gautam Singhania is also the Founder & Chairman of the Super Car Club (SCC), which he started in June 2009 along with Mr. Hormazd Sorabjee, Managing Editor of Autocar India.
According to Mr. Gautam Singhania, who is claimed to be one of India’s pioneering super car enthusiasts, “The Parx Super Car Show series could be said to have triggered the interest for super cars in India, not just amongst auto enthusiasts but also among the common man. In 2009 when we started the Club, we saw that interest in super cars was driven predominantly by individual passion. Today, within three years, we are witnessing a growing drive amongst super car owners to participate in similar format shows, and a larger following of auto enthusiasts who are tracking the growth of SCC and its events in various cities. Such growing interest in super cars in India is very encouraging. To cater to this interest this year, we have more than 80 super cars participating in the show.”
Mr. Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India, commented that “As India’s leading auto magazine, it is our endeavor to create such experiences for car enthusiasts and we are delighted that the Parx Super Car Show in only its fourth year has grown dramatically.”

This growing interest for super cars in India is also reflected in the increasing number of super car manufacturers entering the country and the F1 track that is now coming up in Noida.”
