The familiarity of Maruti Suzuki with domestic market has become an ancient news but the company is still appeasing us with its contemporary ideology. Recently, the auto giant unveiled its plans for 2014 and made the auto aficionados exulted with the news of revamping its premium hatchback, Swift. The iconic car will be undergoing a makeover and is likely to be showcased at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2014. Although there is much excitement regarding the new cars Maruti Suzuki will showcase at the auto fiesta, the transformed version of Swift will be turning more heads than any other model.
2005 saw the inception of Maruti Suzuki Swift and since then, the prudent hatchback has been remodelled a couple of times, with basic interior/exterior changes to retuned engine specification. The current model was updated in 2011 and since then, it has been left untouched. But 2014 will witness it in a glimmering new avatar and the car is highly anticipated to be lauded with same praise as its predecessor. Before divulging any more conjectures, lets talk about the key features, which will make the upcoming version better than its current version.
The front fascia will bear few modifications, with an uplifted bumper and new grille. LED's will be lumped in L-shape at the upfront and lower bumper will sport a dash of silver lining. Rear will be flaunting high mounted LED stop lights, with unique wheel covers. Also a vibrant colour scheme of Boost Blue Metallic is added to the existing patterns. Speculations are rife that the blend of such features would give a snazzy outlook to the new version. Interiors are tweaked with minor re-framing and seat fabrics of premium black colour are embroidered with lines of vivid blue and grey shades. A dual tone dashboard will be siding with reformed consoles and hallmark Suzuki logo on the steering wheel. It is also speculated that the high-end models of new Swift will be tapped with exclusive features like cruise control, keyless entry with push start engine button and an option of 16-inch alloy wheel, thus making the drive more sturdy.
The ongoing Maruti Suzuki Swift is incorporated with an option of 1.2-litre K-series petrol and 1.3-litre Fiat Multi-jet diesel engines. The former produces a power output of 86 bhp with a peak torque of 114 Nm whereas, the latter squeezes 74 bhp with maximum torque of 190 Nm. With efficient fuel economy of around 19 kmpl by K-series engine and 23 kmpl by the diesel unit, Swift is considered to be an admirable performer. The refurbished model will be retaining the same capacity engine under its hood and is likely to continue with a fine performance.
Industry experts are of a view that Maruti Suzuki has redefined the premium hatchback segment with the creation of Swift. The car exhibits meticulous design and brilliant features, making it the most lovable car in domestic market at present. The company had always been a much-appreciated car manufacturer in India and has received several acclamation for the same. Experts are highly anticipating that Swift's new version will occupy the position reached by its previous generation model, and will certainly boost the company's market presence. It is believed that the never ending legacy of Maruti Suzuki will be maintained by the refurbished Swift.
Apparently, a number of rivals have been residing and planning to enter the domestic market and models like Volkswagen Polo, Ford Figo and Hyundai i20 will be giving a stiff competition to Maruti Suzuki Swift. It will be interesting to see that if the latter cruises swiftly ahead of its adversaries and vanquishes its own sale figures.
