At the ongoing 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Volkswagen unveiled the 2019 Jetta for the international market. Along with more space and creaturely comforts, the next-generation Jetta also gets a sharper design upgrade this time around.

Under the hood, the Jetta is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The engine will power the front wheel via either the older six-speed manual transmission or the new, eight-speed automatic. In terms of dimension, the new Jetta is now 43mm longer than the previous model at 4,687mm and 35mm wider at 1,813mm.

The 2019 Jetta gets a sharper front end with Audi inspired LED headlamps. The sloping roofline gives it a coupe-like stance. As for the interior, the vehicle gets Volkswagen’s latest MIB instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch active info display. The vehicle also gets a new dashboard-mounted touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrorlink, Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. The new Jetta is unlikely to be launched in India and it’s only expected to be sold in the left hand drive markets.
