The next generation Toyota Corolla will make a debut at the end of this year and is likely to be launched in mid-2018. A few months ahead of a potential reveal though, the car was spotted doing the rounds in Europe. This will be the 11th generation for the sedan and it comes a good four years after the current model.

Despite being heavily covered up, we can see that it will get a new face. The body may also become a little bit longer to increase cabin space within. However, it is expected to have a familiar silhouette in a bid to keep the identity of the car strong.

Our spy sources suggest that a majority of changes for this car will be hidden away from the naked eye. These are expected to include a new platform, suspension and petrol engine options. They have said that the number of engine options are expected to be streamlined and the offerings will be the same across all markets. The diesel variant, which will be launched in markets in Europe as well as countries like India, will most likely retain the 1.4-litre four-cylinder unit but with better output and efficiency figures.

Although it is quite popular in markets in the Gulf as well as in the Americas, the Corolla is a bit of a dying breed in India due to changing customer preferences in the D-segment of the Indian market. However, it is almost certain that we will get the car as it one of Toyota’s long running image bearers.
