A flagship Mercedes-Benz SUV, the GLS, is soon expected to receive a generation update. The spy shot of the second generation confirms the launch of the updated SUV which is expected to make a debut in 2019.

The camouflage does its job well and does not display any styling feature of the upcoming. Nevertheless, we can expect the new SUV to have lager dimensions than its predecessor. Also, as a part of the update, the new GLS shall break its cover with a revamped cabin and more luxurious interiors.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS will be built on the MHA platform resulting in the SUV being lighter than the current model. Also it is expected to be powered by the same 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel engines. However, we expect the new GLS to be offered with a newly developed nine speed automatic gearbox coupled with the company’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. A more powerful AMG ‘G63’ version of the second generation GLS will be saved for later.

The 2019 GLS is expected to shed its cloak in the latter half of next year. Once launched, the GLS will compete against the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
