Volkswagen T-Cross is expected to be one of the 19 new SUVs planned by the German car manufacturer. The latest test mule images indicate that the upcoming vehicle carries forth the same detailing as the T-Cross Concept which was showcased at 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The new model will be built on the MQB A0 platform and is expected to be launched in the second half of 2018.

Although the T-Cross test mule was heavily camouflaged, the production-spec model is expected to get a wide grille, wide wheel arches, 20-inch R-Line alloys and a masculine body stance. Like the upcoming T-Roc, the T-Cross will sit below the Tiguan and the Touareg model. The concept version features a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that generates 110bhp of power. However, it is believed that the production-ready model will get one or two turbocharged four-cylinder units. Apart from a standard front-wheel drive, the vehicle might be offered in an all-wheel-drive option as well.

The company has chosen to remain tight-lipped about the developments for now. The Volkswagen T-Cross is unlikely to be showcased any time before 2018. Post launch, the Volkswagen T-Cross will compete against the likes of the Audi Q2. Additional details about this vehicle will be known in the days to come.
