The second generation Skoda Yeti has been snapped up doing the rounds (in a camouflaged guise) in China. It will be the second generation for Czech automaker’s compact SUV and this time around will get its most significant update since being brought into the market in 2009.
Firstly the car is sporting a fake grille which has been fitted to throw off attention from the car. However, we can tell that it’s a Skoda thanks to the wheels and has the same wrap around tail lamps found in the Superb. We can also see that this vehicle will sport a crossover design rather than the boxy looks of the current car. We can expect then that this car will mimic the appearance of Kodiaq but in a toned down form.
It will move to the MQB platform and be offered with a variety of petrol and diesel engines both of which will get AT/MT options. The European spec car is expected to get AWD on certain variants as an optional extra. The current Yeti has not been a big hitter for Skoda in India. However, the time now seems ripe for Skoda to cash in on the SUV/crossover craze which wasn’t so much when the Skoda was initially launched. If it does come to India then expect it in 2018 and with local assembly to keep things competitive.
