Under the camouflage, the fastback carries the i30 fascia but has a steadily sloping roofline and a notchback boot lip. The rear overhang is bigger than the hatchback, leading us to expect better boot space. However, the rear headroom would be restricted owing to the raked roofline. Engine options for the i30 fastback would be carried forward from its siblings. The petrol options would include a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 118bhp in the entry level variant. A 1.4-litre T-GDI four-cylinder engine with 138bhp will also be available. Oil burner options would comprise a 1.6-litre unit in different state of tunes producing between 94bhp and 131bhp. As a premium offering in the line-up, the fastback would be loaded with features such as autonomous braking, collision warning, blind spot detection, lane assist along with blind spot detection, and rear cross traffic alert.

Prices are expected to remain on par with the i30 range as it will compete with the likes of Honda Civic, Seat Toledo, Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3.
