At the time of launch at the 2018 Auto Expo event in the country, the new Hyundai Elite i20 was limited to a manual transmission option. This time around, the company has discreetly started delivering the new five-speed CVT variants of the Elite i20 to dealerships around the country. The CVT option will be available in the Magna and the top-spec Asta variant and are priced at Rs 7,04,950 and Rs 8,16,500, respectively. This is about a lakh more than the manual variant.
The previous generation Elite i20 was offered with a 1.4-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a four-speed automatic with a torque converter. With the new CVT transmission, the vehicle is expected to return similar power output figures with improved drivability. As seen in leaked images the features and design remain unchanged for the CVT variant. The introduction of a CVT option will further strengthen its competition against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno in India.
