      The new fifth-generation Honda CR-V has been launched in the country with a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades. The SUV gets a diesel engine option for the first time. The new model claims to offer the roomiest CR-V cabin ever and a seven-seat configuration in the diesel variant with air-conditioning for both the second and the third-row seating. The SUV is available in five colour options - golden brown metallic, radiant red metallic, lunar silver metallic, modern steel metallic and white orchid pearl.

      The new Honda CR-V gets a crispier and sharper front end complete with aggressively styled LED headlamps, turn light, tail-lights and brake lights. Additionally, it also gets the wing-shaped LED-DRLs and muscular fenders. The SUV gets new sporty 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, a longer hood and short rear overhang.

      As for the interior, the 2018 Honda CR-V features premium accents and leather seating. The SUV features a colour seven-inch multi-information display with driver attention monitor, torque distribution display and more. The vehicle also gets a sleek seven-inch touchscreen display audio system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms. The SUV gets eight speakers with four tweeters, panoramic sunroof with three modes, eight-way power adjustable driver seat with four-way lumbar support and multiple USB charging ports for front and rear occupants. The vehicle also gets a smart remote engine starter in petrol and push start/stop with smart entry.

      Under the hood, the 2.0-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine generates 152bhp of power at 6500rpm and 189Nm of torque at 4300rpm. The engine comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The diesel version gets a 1.6-litre DOHC i-DTEC four-cylinder turbo engine that generates 118bhpp of power at 4000rpm and 300Nm of torque at 2000rpm. The diesel engine comes mated to a Shift by Wire nine-speed automatic transmission and is available in an optional all-wheel-drive variant.

      Speaking of safety, the new Honda CR-V has been awarded full five-stars by the ASEAN NCAP. The SUV gets six airbags, driver attention monitor, Honda LaneWatch, multi-angle rearview camera, ABS with EBD and BA. Additionally, the vehicle also gets vehicle stability assist, motion adaptive electric power steering, hill start assist, Isofix, rain sensing wiper, auto dimming IRVM and walk away door lock.
