The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette is expected to be unveiled in January, most likely at the Detroit Auto show that begins on 14 January 2018. Moreover, the event will coincide with the Corvette’s 65th anniversary in January. Currently, General Motor’s production facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky is being upgraded with a new state-of-art paint shop and the upgradation work will continue over a period of three months.

Although the company has chosen to remain tightlipped on the new mid-engine Corvette, we believe that the vehicle might be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine mated to a dual clutch transmission. The current seventh generation model with a front engine is powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine that generates 641bhp of power and 650Nm of torque. The current generation model is available in coupe and convertible body form and is available in seven-speed manual and eight-speed automatic with paddle shifter. The new model with a mid-engine section gets a shorter hood while the tail appears slightly longer.

After launch, the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette will compete against the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mclaren. The new model is also expected to get an improved set of electronics and safety features in comparison to its predecessors. Additional details on the technology and pricing aspect will be known over the next few months.
