The 2018 BMW X3 has been spotted undergoing trials in Europe. Based on the new CLAR platform, the new X3 gets subtle cosmetic changes and a slew of technological upgrades.
Internally called G01, this third-generation model retains the traditional BMW styling with subtle changes. The revised front grille, LED DRLs for the headlamp and a revised roofline give it a fresh look. Even the front and rear bumpers have been revised, and the tail gate is curvier than before. Under the hood would be a range of petrol and diesel engines. BMW will also be introducing a performance-focussed version of the crossover, called the X3 M. This will be powered by the 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine from the M3 and M4, tuned to deliver around 450 horsepower.
However, the X3 M might not make it to Indian shores owing to the lack of demand for performance oriented crossovers from this segment. As for the regular 2018 BMW X3, we can expect it to be launched here by the end of this year or early 2018. It will rival against the likes of Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Volvo XC60.
