BMW is working on the mid-life update for the 2 Series, which was launched back in 2014. The test mule has been spotted with minimal camouflage around the headlamps, grille and tail lights and is expected to be revealed sometime in 2017.

The headlamp unit under the cladding reveals a new LED setup. The new headlight design was introduced in the BMW family with the 7 Series and was also seen on the recently launched 5 Series. The tail lamp retains the same shape and design, though, it will receive some new LED lighting as well.

The grille appears to be a bit smaller and the bumpers have been reworked a bit. The interior too is reported to have undergone some minor tweaks. Not much is expected to change on the inside, but a few nips and tucks would make the car feel fresh for next few years.

Engine options of the 2 Series remain the same, but we can expect them to be tuned for better performance, fuel economy and cleaner emissions. The 2 Series facelift will help the car soldier on for few more years until a proper replacement arrives. The facelifted 2 Series coupe and the convertible variant will be revealed next year.
