For years now, Auto Expo has been offering a large platform for local and international vehicle manufacturers to showcase their new products and technological developments in India. Japanese car manufacturer, Honda, showcased a wide range of upcoming vehicles and concepts at the 14th edition of the Auto Expo in India. Top three cars which caught our attention at the Honda pavilion have been the upcoming Amaze, Civic and the new CR-V.
The upcoming second generation Amaze is based on a new platform and in terms of design it borrows a lot of cues from the upcoming 10th generation Accord. Mechanically, the new model continues to be powered by the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines from its predecessor. However, this time around, the diesel version will also be available with a CVT gearbox. Coincidentally, the 2018 Amaze will be the first car from Honda to feature a CVT with a diesel engine. As for safety, the new model will be offered with safety equipment such as dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat anchors as standard. The new model is expected to be launched by the end of first quarter in 2018.
2018 Honda CR-V will be offered with a diesel engine option for the very first time in India. The SUV is expected to be offered with a new 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. The Japanese auto manufacturer might also offer an optional all-wheel-drive system this time. Moreover, the new CR-V will get a three-row seating option for seven occupants unlike its predecessor which was limited as a five-seater. Premium features, new upholstery and hands-free electrically powered tailgate are things to look out for in the new CR-V.
The Honda Civic has always been a popular name in the D-segment in India. Known for its futuristic design and striking interiors, the Civic has always attracted car enthusiasts in the country. The new Civic retains its low-slung, sporty stance, which has been fashioned using Honda’s latest design language which focuses on sharp lines and aerodynamics. Compared to its predecessor, the larger wheels and tyres emphasise its wide stance, while the long wheelbase, short overhangs and sweeping cabin further add to the sporty feel. Honda will stick to the tried and tested 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor for the locally made Civic. That said, the car will finally get a diesel heart in the form of the 1.6-litre unit from the brand’s ‘Earth Dreams’ line-up. The latter makes 160hp of power and 350Nm of torque. However, the company is yet to officially confirm the vehicle specs.
