Asia’s largest and the world’s second largest motor show, the 2018 Auto Expo, is in its 14th year now and is due to begin on 7 February 2018. The Society for Indian Mobile Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM) report indicates that the event will witness 24 new launches and over 100 unveiling of the vehicles across categories and segments. The Auto Expo event has always been a major platform for vehicle manufacturers to showcase their technological developments and introduce new products.
Here below are a list of cars which will be launched at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo event -
Elite i20
At the upcoming Auto Expo event, Hyundai is expected to launch the Elite i20 facelift. Changes will be limited to cosmetic upgrades in the form of a revised grille, tweaked headlamps, redesigned tail lamps and new bumpers. Mechanically, it is expected to continue being powered by the existing 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel unit. To make things interesting, Hyundai might also introduce a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120bhp/172Nm.
The new third-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is due to be officially launched at the 2018 Auto Expo event. The new model will be available in four variants Lxi/Ldi, Vxi/Vdi, Zxi/Zdi and Zxi+/Zdi+. Mechanically, it will continue to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. Both the engines get five speed manual transmission as standard, while AMT is optional on the Vxi/Vdi and the Zxi/Zdi variants.
Honda Civic
Honda Civic has always been a popular choice amongst car enthusiasts in the country. Post much wait, Honda is expected to launch the new Civic in India at the upcoming Auto Expo event in the country. The new-generation model gets an aggressive design language and will be available in petrol and diesel powertrains. The petrol variant will be available in two turbocharged engine options - 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC which generate 126bhp/200Nm of torque and 178bhp/240Nm of torque, respectively. The CVT variants on the other hand generate 180Nm of torque (1.0-litre) and 220Nm of torque (1.5-litre). The diesel version is expected to be offered with a 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine that generates 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque.
Toyota Vios
Toyota is expected to steal the limelight this year by marking its entry in the C-segment with the Vios sedan. Popularly known as Yaris Ativ in international markets, the Vios has been due for its India launch for quite some time now. The vehicle will be positioned above the Etios and will be the flagship sedan for the company. The Vios is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre VVT-i petrol engine that produces 105bhp and 140Nm of torque, while the diesel version is expected to be powered by the 1.4-litre D-4D engine which generates 87bhp and 205Nm of torque. Toyota might offer the five-speed manual as standard with the option of CVT as well.
