Mini has announced a slew of updates for its 2017 range, including the addition of new creature comforts and a redesigned instrument console. The British manufacturer has also introduced two new base trims for its crossover – the MINI Countryman.

      2017 Mini range announced

The new entry-level petrol variant is called Mini One Countryman. It gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, delivering 102bhp and 180Nm of torque. This variant is available with the option of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed steptronic gearbox. There is also a new diesel base variant – the Mini One D Countryman. This trim gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder oil burner, delivering 116bhp and 270Nm of torque. Both these engines drive the front wheels only, with the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system being reserved for the S variants.

There is also a host of minor tweaks for the rest of the Mini range. The infotainment system gets Apple CarPlay which allows users to sync their iPhones. The instrument console has been redesigned to improve readability. It also gets a slew of graphic schemes, which can be adjusted according to the driver’s preference. The head-up display can now be adjusted according to the driver’s height. The driving modes can now be adjusted through a new toggle switch below the air conditioning.

2017 Mini range gets Apple CarPlay

Mini will commence deliveries of the 2017 range in July 2017. Given that the Mini range sold in India is imported as CBU, we can expect these 2017 models to be launched here around the same time.
