The 2017 Chevrolet Beat's production version has been spied on test sans a disguised avatar for the first time. The new hatchback is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming month.

It became very evident that Chevrolet will bring in the new Beat when the carmaker displayed the Essentia and the Beat Activ concept at the 2016 Auto Expo. These images reveal that the fascia is exactly similar to the Essentia compact sedan with big headlamps, a chrome grille and a new bumper with fog lamps. Though this test mule is running on steel rims, the top-end trim will get alloy wheels. At the back, the most evident changes are the new headlamps and the repositioning of the registration plate to the bumper. The current Beat has it on the boot-lid.

The new Beat’s petrol and diesel engine options might be carried over from the existing hatchback. This includes a 1.2-litre petrol unit (79bhp, 108Nm) and a 1.0-litre diesel motor (57bhp, 150Nm); which come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The new Chevrolet Beat has been spotted testing several times on the Indian roads. However, this is the first time that the upcoming hatchback has been spotted without camouflage and just masked badges. Upon launch, the Beat will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Tata Tiago.
