A heavily camouflaged next generation BMW 5 Series has been spotted on the back of a flatbed in Pune. This next generation mid-size sedan was unveiled in October and is India bound sometime in 2017. It seems possible that the car which has been brought to India as a part of BMW’s global testing procedures or for India-specific testing and homologation.
The G30 5 Series is similarly designed to the recently launched 7 Series. It is based on the OKL platform, and is slightly bigger than the car it replaces. The new 5 Series is 100kg lighter due to the fact of lightweight chassis and the car retains the crucial 50:50 weight distribution
In terms of engines, there will be options of petrol, diesel as well as plug-in hybrid models. In India, we will get the 520d and 530d guise while the petrol line-up is likely to consist of 520i and 530i trims. The new generation 5 Series when launched in India, will rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and recently launched Jaguar XF and Volvo S90.
