Toyota has released the first teaser image of the new-generation Innova MPV prior to its global debut in Indonesia on November 23, 2015. Promoted with a tagline ‘The Legend Reborn’, the all new Innova features sweptback headlamps, dual-slat grille with chrome garnish, new fog lamps and bumper with wide air intakes at the front end. The MPV measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and1,795mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Based on an all-new platform, the new Innova is claimed to be lighter and more agile than the outgoing model.
The 2016 Innova will come with two engine options - a 2.4-litre GD, four-cylinder diesel with VNT Intercooler and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel with Dual VVT-i - that will be more powerful and efficient than the current engine lineup. The petrol mill churns out146.9bhp of power and 360Nm (MT) and 342Nm (AT) of torque, while the diesel mill offers 137bhp and 183.3Nm. Transmission options on offer will be a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.
As far as features are concerned, the MPV will get dual-tone interior with silver accent, a seven-inch entertainment system with voice commands and Bluetooth, rank-and-reach adjustable steering, anti-theft system, rear parking sensors, driver knee airbag, dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) as standard fitments. While the wood-finish on panels, smart entry with push button start, curtain airbags, VSC (vehicle stability control) and HAC (hill-start assist control) will be available only on the top-end trim.
