      2016 Toyota Innova spotted in funky camouflage

      Expected to make its global debut later this year, the 2016 Toyota Innova has recently been spied testing in Indonesia. Set to rival the Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Nissan Evalia, the second-generation Innova will be launched in India in early 2016.

      Powering the new-gen Innova is an all-new ‘GD’ diesel engine lineup that includes a 2.4-litre engine and a 2.8-litre unit. The India-bound model of the MPV is expected to come with a 2.4-litre GD engine that is claimed to be 10% more frugal than the existing 2.5-litre D4D ‘KD’ engine. Transmission on offer could be a manual and an automatic.

      Based on the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TMGA) platform, the next-gen Innova will lighter, stiffer, and longer than the current model. Features on offer could be reverse camera, updated touch-screen centre console and dashboard, multi-function steering wheel, new climate control and upholstery, ABS (anti-lock braking system), seven airbags, etc.

      Coming to the design, the 2016 Innova will feature a new grille with two chrome slats, integrated LED daytime running lamps, new fog lamps, swept-back head-lamps with double-barrel projectors, revised front and rear bumpers, pronounced wheel arches, multi-layered bootlid and new tail lamps. The interior of the MPV will remain largely unchanged. Though, it is expected to get some additional features, and improved material quality.

      The 2016 Toyota Innova is likely to be offered within the price bracket of Rs. 9 lakh – Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
