Toyota, the well-appreciated Japanese auto maker, is looking forward to make the new Fortuner ready for production. It is expected to debut in the markets in the later half of the year. The car has a sporty styling, comfortable plush interiors, rugged mechanistic details and the reliability of a Toyota product. So much has been the popularity of the SUV that it is counted among the top selling cars in the country. Owing to this, the Japanese manufacturer is looking forward to make another success story with the new 2016 Fortuner model. Notably, this new SUV has been spotted on a number of occasions, and has created great anticipation in the automobile industry.
The 2016 Fortuner will be based on IMV platform, which will be in terms with the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA). The new generation model will be built on a ladder frame chassis, which will maintain its ruggedness intact. There is no news about the mill to be used in the model but speculations point against the usage of the old engines. Reports suggest that a totally new engine will be employed for the diesel variant, which will be more efficient and high-performing. The car will also feature 2WD and 4WD options, with manual and automatic transmissions.
The pricing for the current generation Fortuner is slated at Rs 22 lakhs, and there are rumors that the Japanese manufacturer will price its new Innova at Rs. 20 lakhs. Hence, in order to create a bridge between two of its best-selling models, the auto maker is expected to price the new Fortuner slightly higher than the outgoing model.
