      2016 Hyundai Elantra launch expected mid this year

      Hyundai Elantra has been one the finest sedans to be rolled out from the company’s production line. The Korean automaker had showcased the Elantra facelift last year at the Dubai international motor show. In India, the new model is expected to launch by middle of this year. The new model boasts of being built with 53 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS).

      The 2016 Hyundai Elantra will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol trim will be offered in 1.6-litre GDi and 2.0-litre MPi engine options, while the diesel will be offered with a 1.6-litre VGT CRDi engine. The petrol engines will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission option, while the diesel will get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

      Hyundai Elantra has been known for its stylish appeal. The new model being based on the Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy gets a sharp and aggressive exterior design. The front fascia is adorned with a hexagonal front grille and projector headlamps with integrated DRLs. The two piece taillight along with the sloping roofline adds up to its overall style quotient. In terms of dynamics, the new model will be about 20mm longer and 25mm wider than its older trim.

      The company has not revealed its expected price in the country yet, we anticipate that the vehicle may be priced between Rs 15 – Rs 19 lakh (Ex-showroom). Post launch, the new Elantra will compete against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and the Skoda Octavia.
