Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the next-generation Ford EcoSport has been spied testing in India. The 2016 Ford EcoSport will receive some exterior and mechanical updates.
Talking about the engine, the new EcoSport will continue to feature the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine that powers the existing model. Though, it will be tuned for extra power, better low –end torque and drivability. This engine will be capable to produce a maximum power of 95PS. The rear suspension, too, has been tweaked for better damping duties, while the ride height is lowered by 10mm. Ford has confirmed that the electronic stability control (ESC) and steering of the crossover have been re- tuned for European driving conditions.
The new EcoSport will be available with an optional spare wheel, and those who don’t want it, can opt for a puncture repair kit and revised door with registration plate enclosure. The European-spec model of the crossover will get SYNC system with 4-inch color display, additional chrome detailing on instrument cluster and buttons, partial leather seats (for Titanium trim only) and new charcoal black shade on center console and door boards. An optional winter pack with rear seat floor-level ventilation, heated windscreen, mirrors and front seats will also be on offer. The NVH levels of the new EcoSport will be better than the current model.
Similar to the existing model, the 2016 Ford EcoSport will be imported to Europe from Ford India’s Chennai-based production plant. Though, the company hasn’t yet confirmed anything about its Indian launch.
