The 2016 Fiat 500 facelift has been snapped ahead of its global debut on July 4, 2015. Set to rival the Mini Cooper, the new Fiat 500 will receive its first major update. Though, it will retain the original design, features and engines.
Talking about the engine, the 2016 Fiat 500 facelift will continue to feature the 1.2-litre, 8V and 0.9 TwinAir turbocharged petrol engines that power the current model. The former delivers 69PS with 102Nm, while the latter is tuned to deliver two states of power – 85PS and 105PS. A 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed Dualogic AMT gearbox will be on offer.
On the front end, the car features 500X-inspired LED headlights, dual-slat chrome grille with slightly different design and new front bumper with chrome highlights. The side profile gets new 15-inch and 16-inch alloy rim designs. The rear end, too, looks refreshing with LED taillights and revised bumper with a chrome element. An optional ‘Car Dressing’ customization package will also be on offer.
Inside, the car gets a new dashboard, a 5-inch touchscreen UConnect infotainment system, new fabric and leather upholstery, steering wheel with new chrome inserts, new window operation switches and a glove compartment. The braking system, too, might be updated with front disc brakes.
Prior to the 2016 Fiat 500 facelift, the American automaker will introduce the performance-oriented Abarth 595 Competizione, which is likely to launch in July, 2015.
