The only way to challenge something as revolutionary as the Mercedes-Benz S Class is to make something as impressive and contemporary like the 2016 BMW 7 Series. Sooner or later, BMW India will launch the flagship luxury sedan in the Indian market to make it face stalwarts such as the new S-Class, Audi A8L and the Jaguar XJL.

What’s new in the 2016 BMW 7-Series? It surely doesn’t look radically different from earlier but then looks larger and grander than ever before. The grille and the lights have been changed to give it the much needed calm stance. The shoulder line has been beefed up for that additional strong character line on the side profile and even the alloys have been updated for the hint of elegance. To the rear, the wider tail lights along with strong sections of chrome dominate the derrière with great smartness.

Inside the 2016 BMW 7-Series, the aspect that will make it look better than any other option available is the space offered. There are acres of space and will as good as a long wheel base version of any other rivalling vehicle. The boot space is utterly grand at 515 litres. The seats offer great comfort and come with a host of position settings which arrange them in the best way possible for the comfort on longer or shorter journeys.

It also gets a high end touchscreen infotainment system with superior user interface. The system has taken a bigger leap with gesture controls to operate various functions and controls. Even the rear passengers get their own entertainment options with a removable seven-inch tablet screen which can help them browse tracks and surf internet.  It doesn’t end here as the list also includes electric blinds, active cruise control and cross-traffic alert.

When launched in India, the 2016 BMW 7-Series will be offered in 730d diesel variant which will be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that makes 262 bhp of power and 620Nm of torque. The efficiency has been increased to 21 km/l from 17 km/l. The diesel variant can do a 0-100km/h dash in 6.1 seconds. In addition, the new 7-Series will also be available in 740i and 740Li petrol variants with a 322 bhp 450 Nm motor.
