Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the new Ignis Concept at the 2016 Auto Expo. This is a super compact SUV/crossover. A five-seater by size, the Ignis is a vehicle that is smaller than the existing range of compact SUVs like the Ford Ecosport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Ignis is somewhat a competition to the Mahindra KUV100. The Ignis is liking to be launched with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engine as well.
Maruti will be launching the Ignis during this festive season and it will be priced below the Vitara BRezza. The pricing should be somewhere between Rs 4.5 lakhs to Rs 7 lakhs. The Maruti Ignis Concept has will coming with a new Suzuki platform, which is a lot lighter and rigid than the currently sold the Suzuki platforms. This means that the new vehicles will have better performance, fuel efficiency and even driving dynamics. The Ignis will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa Experience dealerships.
This will be the third product for the Nexa portfolio. At the moment, the company has 100 Nexa dealerships and this will double by the next year. The Ignis shown is a concept and the production version will be ready by this Diwali.
