      2015 Volkswagen Vento Cup announced

      Volkswagen Motorsport India has announced new one make race series- the Vento Cup. Volkswagen Vento will replace the Polo, which have been taking participation in the race for the past five seasons. The racecar is based on the stock Vento and is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine that is good for 180PS of power. This engine is coupled to a six-speed DSG gearbox. The company has reinforced the chassis to offer greater rigidity. When compared to the Polo hatch, the VW Vento racecar has a lower drag coefficient to offer better handling on fast speed and in corners. This could be the move to add more young enthusiasts to race, which were earlier find difficulty to match experienced drivers.

      The company will select drivers for the race via a Karting programme scheduled to be happen in February in Pune by Rayo Racing. If you are looking to participate in the range, go online and register for the same at www.volkswagen-motorsport.in. The selected drivers will have to face the experienced one at 2015 Vento Cup. For juniors and Pro categories, drivers to cost Rs. 8 lakh, while the cost for senior category is Rs. 12 lakh. For international drivers, the signing amount is Rs 14 lakh. The winner of the Vento Cup will get a chance to drive in an international series.

      Mr. Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commented “The Polo R Cup was an extremely successful series for us. Through the series, we have nurtured over 65 drivers till now and given sponsored opportunities to 11 drivers to far.” He further added, “With the Vento Cup, we are moving to a car which will have improved dynamics allowing the drivers to have a wider learning scope. The different body style will also add to different setup of the car and will vary its speeds as compared to its predecessor.”
