New spy shots of Skoda Fabia hatchback have emerged sans camouflage hinting at significant clues of the upgraded version. Prior to this the hatchback was spotted on the Nurburgring track while being tested in disguise state. The new Fabia is set to make debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in the month of October. However, rumour mills are humming that Skoda could reveal the 2015 Fabia online in September this year prior to its global debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Skoda will first put new Fabia on sale in European markets, while India is likely to witness re-launch of Fabia by second quarter of 2015. Latest spy shots snapped by a source reveal that the facelifted Fabia will share ample similarities with the previous version.

Similarities with Rapid sedan can also be seen on observing the vehicle closely. Front fascia features a wider grille that suits well with the narrow head lights. Tweaks can be seen in the side profile of the hatchback that sports bold creases present all over the side profile. A sportier C-pillar and redesigned greenhouse area are among the noticeable changes made to the vehicle. Comprehensive changes have been made at the rear, rendering it a fresh look. A roof-mounted spoiler has been equipped at the rear. Unlike as speculated, the new Fabia underpins the existing platform to curb prices. Previously it was being said that the upgraded Fabia could underpin VW’s new MQB architecture.

Under the hood, Skoda could house the same engine line-up as offered on the Polo hatchback. A 1.2 litre petrol and 1.2 litre diesel mills will be equipped in the new Fabia petrol and diesel variants respectively. Besides these, a 1.5 litre diesel motor paired to an automatic tranny could also be put on offer.
